Although Wavre has been sacked and pillaged throughout the centuries, it has never wavered.

Wavre is best known for a series of UFO sightings in 1990 but the church of St. John the Baptist, built in 1475, is also a favourite attraction.

Other hot spots in Wavre include the city hall, built in the 18th century and Walibi Amusement Park.

The city does celebrate a carnival, every Sunday following June 24th, but the thought of Belgians getting down a la New Orleans is a somewhat distressing image.
