The Village Quin is an excellent choice for the first-time visitor to
Ireland. The little village has four pubs and a thousand-year-old abbey
(well... almost).
Quin Abby, destroyed by Cromwell in the 17th Century was,
at one time, a university for Franciscan monks. Its ruins dominate the Quin landscape and are one of the top tourist attractions in Clare.
Many people do not realize the importance of Ireland
during the Dark Ages in Europe. Ireland carried the touch of knowledge
until Europe awoke from its slumber.
Close to Shannon Airport, Quin is centrally located for
visiting East Clare.
Two of the pubs in Quin have traditional Irish music and you can
find delicious food at the Monk's Well (a pub).
