Quimper, France

Quimper (Brittany) Pop: 70,000

Lying at the convergence of the rivers Odet and Steir, its very name derives from the Breton for "confluence of two rivers."

It is viewed by many as the historical and cultural centre of Brittany.

Unlike its almost namesake, Quimperle, Quimper is more populous and has a renown pottery industry featuring traditional Breton blue and yellow designs.
