Despite the numerous wars that have occurred nearby, Obernai has had the good
fortune to escape mishap and emerge with its historical structures in a state of
rare preservation.
Situated on France's wine route, Obernai also has the Kronenbourg brewery
and entices the traveler with fine Alsace gustatory experiences that feature
foie gras, tarts, sauerkrauts, and asparagus dishes.
The historical roots of Obernai are found as early as the 12th century A.D.
and its weekly market dates to 1302.
