History of Kilkee
Kilkee is one of Clare's best seaside
resorts. It has a beautiful sweep of beach with a protected cove and is
a perfect family vacation spot.
Many residents of other parts of Clare come here during the summer to
swim.
If your plans involve travelling to the south of Ireland along the west
coast, Kilkee is a good
stopping-over spot before you take the
ferry over
the River Shannon to County Kerry.
Although the Cliffs of Moher is a much more popular tourist
attraction in Ireland, Kilkee has cliffs that are just as spectacular
and you will be able to stroll them without the retaining wall you'll
find at Moher. You'll also find the absence of the throngs of motor
coaches a blessing. Kilkee celebrates with an annual boating festival
and seafood festival. |
