Award-winning small group tours of IrelandOur guides will tell you all about Ireland, the places you visit, about the history, culture and landscape of the country. Passengers are always amazed by how much they learn. One of the guides recently won an ‘Irish Welcome Award’ presented by the Irish Tourist Board (Failte Ireland) after being nominated by some of his passengers. This is the perfect holiday for those who are looking for something different and want to fully experience Ireland. Instead of buses or minibuses, we use 4X4 Land Rovers so our group sizes are smaller and more flexible and we can explore areas far beyond the reach of mortal tours. Each Land Rover is custom made to accommodate 11 or so passengers in perfect comfort. You will leave the road behind, drive along beaches and into the mountains or across to Islands. You will walk in the mountains, surf in the Atlantic, ride a horse or play golf, clamber over ancient ruins, learn about pirate queens, retrace the steps of pilgrims or search for your ancestors. At the end of the day, a roaring fire, some music, great food, a pint or two then off to bed in a comfortable hotel or B&B.
Each tour still features the great scenery, local information and humour, plus loads of outdoor activity, games and fun. Suitable for children of all ages. (The biggest kid on the tour will most likely be the driver.) There really is something for everyone, including:
The Following Tours are Available
We'll take you out to Connemara, one of the most popular places in Ireland for locals and visitors alike. Connemara comprises the western part of County Galway and has long stretches of lovely coastline dotted with quaint villages. Similar to the Four day trip, but concentrating on the area north of Galway city, this trip is a refreshing way to spend a weekend amongst great scenery and rich local culture. If you only have three days, then this is perfect. Have a night in Dublin before of after the trip and get a great taste of Ireland. Some typical highlights include:
(Departing: Thursdays and Saturdays) The very best way to spend a long weekend. The West and North West of Ireland, in Counties Clare, Galway and Mayo, including the world famous Connemara region contain some of the most stunning, unspoilt and undiscovered areas of Ireland. Imagine a country of wild moorland, rugged mountain ranges, dark and mysterious lakes, spectacular beaches, hidden villages, rebel castles and prehistoric forts. It is a region with a huge amount to offer a visitor, and all in a relatively small area. You will have the chance to go for walks, ride a bike or a horse, surf an Atlantic wave, try your hand at fishing or hit a golf ball. The range of activities available is huge and qualified and experienced instructors supervise all. You'll also have the chance not to do the activities and just take it easy for four days while we show you around. Some typical highlights include: All of the above with trips into Clare and Mayo.
(Departing: Mondays) This is what a holiday in Ireland is all about: relaxation, fresh air, scenery and local culture. The extra day makes all the difference giving you five superb days spent in an area once thought to be the edge of the world, including The majestic beauty of the ring of Kerry, the green fields, Pubs and Dolphin of Dingle, the magic of the Blarney Stone, and the West Cork. In this tour, we've added a pinch of Blarney so combine your trip with a weekend in Dublin and you will never want to go home. Typical Highlights of a 5 Day Trip:
(Departing: Mondays) This tour heads north on a journey through 1000's of years of fascinating history, dramatic scenery and legendary places to the heart of one of Europe's most off-the-beaten-track regions. Northern and North-western Ireland has so much to offer as one of the most diverse, intriguing and beautiful areas of Western Europe. From the wilds of Donegal to the legends of the Giants Causeway, the Glens and beaches of the Antrim coastline and the historic cities of Belfast and Derry you will visit areas that other tourists simply don't see. Like all of these tours the trip is an awesome blend of great scenery, fresh air and outdoor activity, local culture and history and loads of laughs. Our small group sizes mean an amazing degree of flexibility, so every trip is different and custom designed to suit you and your fellow passengers. Our small groups also allow us to stay in small out-of-the-way B&B's and Hotels, offering a warm and friendly welcome. All rooms have private bathrooms and most come with TV's and Tea and Coffee facilities.
(Departing: Sundays/) Look no further, you have just found the best possible way to see Ireland. A whole week to explore, relax, absorb, refresh and learn about this fascinating and beautiful island. We have combined all the best elements of our 3, 4, and 5 day tours, still keeping our pinch of Blarney and created an Irish experience that is worth flying round the world for. First we head down to the South West to Cork and Kerry and the three peninsula's of Beara, Iveragh (The Ring of Kerry) and Dingle. Then we will take you across the River Shannon into County Clare with the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher before heading north into Galway and the wild Connemara region. You will see a huge proportion of Ireland's best scenery (just ask any Irish person). As usual the trip is Vagabond's unique mixture of outdoor activity, great scenery, relaxing pubs and loads of laughs. Seven days means that you are never rushed but you will see so much that you may think you have been travelling for weeks. Typical Highlights of the Seven Day Tour:
