Freshford was the site of an early Christian church founded by Saint
Lachtain in 622.
In 1100 it was replaced by a monastic church. the new church has a
beautiful Romanesque porch and doorway decorated with friezes.
A rare round window with Romanesque molding remains as the only part of
the old church.
Freshford has a lovely village green that forms the centre of
activities there.
