Renting a Car in Chile
If you get high while
driving in Chile, make sure it is on the mountain air and not on
alcohol.
Although the blood alcohol is liberal by present-day standards (.08
mg/ml) drunk driving laws are strictly enforced.
You'll need an international driving license to rent a
car in Chile and the maximum speed limit is 120 km/h.
It is allowed to drive into Argentina. An additional charge may be applied.
Also a special permit is required. Supplier must have a signed rental
agreement from customer in order to request this permit.
The Chilean
government issues the permit 24 hours after receiving signed agreement.
In addition to the permit the Argentine government will require from
customer to purchase liability insurance at a cost of USD 85.This is
payable to insurance company.
Minimum age is 21 years. Drivers between 21-24 will be subject to a
young drivers surcharge.
