Driving a Car in Belgium:
Belgium has a preponderance of speed traps, traffic cameras and
unmarked police cars.
Be careful and obey traffic laws at all times.
Speeding, in particular, is not tolerated so expect high fines if you
are caught driving over the speed limit in Belgium.
Belgium also has a blood alcohol limit of .05 mg/ml.
Children under
3 years of age cannot travel in the front seat unless they have a proper
restraint system.
Warning triangles and fire extinguishers are mandatory.
First aid kits are suggested but not required.
Valid national drivers license valid for more than 1 year is required
in Belgium.
Non-Roman script license requires an International Drivers
Permit from current country of residence in combination with a local
license.
For Brussels Airport (Zaventem Airport) car rentals are located in
the arrival hall.
