Canterbury (Kent) Pop:50,000

Canterbury is another city with early roots in prehistoric times and of greater pitch, the scene of many historic religious events and intriguing plots.

To this day Canterbury is a sacred site attracting many a pilgrim as a result of Thomas Becket's murder in 1170 in Canterbury Cathedral.

These religious travellers influenced Chaucer's penning of his epic, "The Canterbury Tales" in 1387.

Canterbury is the burial place of Edward the Black Prince (Prince of Wales) and King Henry IV.

The city has a more divided interest in Sir Thomas More in that his head is buried there in the church of St. Dunstan's Canterbury, while his body lies in the Tower of London.

Canterbury is another of the incredible UNESCO World heritage Sites.
