Albufeira, Portugal

Alfufeira has been the most popular holiday spot in south Portugal since the 1970's.

Thus, the city has been transformed from a fortified Roman outpost and simple fishing village to an exciting vacation choice with a
cosmopolitan flavor. Varied restaurants, nightclubs, and watering holes abound providing evening revels to rival the beach and water sport daytime action.

This renaissance has occurred despite the effects of two devastating earthquakes, the last in 1755. What is left of the original town is remarkably well preserved and unspoiled.

What were never despoiled are Albufeira's golden beaches that appear to stretch endlessly north and south.
