Towns and Islands of Greece
Delphi - Made famous by the Oracle of Delphi, this town still has the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo. At one time it was considered the center of culture for all of the Mediterranean. Ios Island - Famous for it's white buildings and startling views, Ios Island can be found in the Cyclades group in the Aegean Sea. Kos - Kos, Greece is in the south Sporades group of the Dodecanese. It is also known for it's white-washed buildings. Mykonos - Located in the Cyclades islands, Mykonos is one of Greece's most famous tourist destinations. Naxos Island - Also in the Cyclades island group, Naxos is considered one of the loveliest islands in Greece, no small accomplishment. Olympia - Home of the Olympics, Olympia was a national shrine of the Greeks and contained many treasures of Greek art. Paros Island - Paros Island Greece is also located in the Cyclades. It is siturted between Naxos, Mykonos and Sifnos. Rhodes - Located in the Aegean sea, only a few km from Turkey, Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands. Santorini Island - A popular cruise ship destination, the island of Santorini is the southern most island of the Cycladic group in the Aegean Sea, and is located 63 nautical miles north of Crete. Sifnos Island - Sifnos, lies in the middle of the Cyclades islands between Serifos, Kimolos and Antiparos and is about 80 nautical miles from Piraeus. Skiathos Island - Skiathos Island is part of the Sporades and is situated north-east of Evia south-east of the Pelion Peninsula. Thessaloniki - Thessaloniki is the capital of Macedonia province in Greece and is the second largest city after Athens. Zakynthos - Zakynthos Greece is part of the Ionian Islands. Its location offers convenient travel to the other islands and the mainland of Greece. |
