All Cross Border driving in Malawi is arranged on request.

Foreign driving licences are accepted. Licences must be held for a minimum of 3 years.

Minimum age for drivers is 23 years.

Maximum age for drivers is 70 years.

One-way rentals are possible and charged according to location.

Warnings and Travel Advisories

While not as dangerous as many countries in Africa, Malawi is still known to have carjacking and some petty crimes.

Travel at night is not advised.

Car accidents are among the leading cause of death in Malawi and, as usual, we suggest you not drink and drive.
